From clogged to cleared.

  1. Tell us what is going on

Which drain, how bad, how long it has been going. Call (519) 777-5741 or send it through the site and Steve gets back to you the same business day.

  2. Diagnosed, then quoted

Steve finds the blockage and explains what caused it. You get a flat-rate price before any work begins. No surprises.

  3. Cleared completely

Professional augers and drain machines sized to the line - the blockage comes out, not just a hole punched through it.

  4. Verified on camera

On stubborn or repeat clogs a camera goes down the line to confirm it is clear and to check for root intrusion or damage. If the line needs more than cleaning, you will be told.

The homeowner's guide

Know the signs before it becomes a flood

Most drain problems announce themselves weeks before they become a mess on the floor. Here is what to watch for, what we actually clear, and why the bottle of chemicals under your sink is not the answer.

Signs your drain needs a plumber

A drain rarely blocks all at once. If you recognize more than one of these, the line is telling you something:

  • Water drains slowly from the sink, tub, or shower
  • Gurgling sounds coming from drains when water runs
  • Water backs up into the sink or tub when you flush the toilet
  • Multiple drains in the house are slow at the same time
  • Standing water around the basement floor drain
  • A sewage smell near drains that comes and goes
  • A clog that returns within weeks of being cleared

One slow drain vs. several

One slow sink is usually a local clog. Several slow drains at once - especially with gurgling toilets - usually means the problem is further down the line, and may call for a camera inspection rather than another round of clearing.

Keeping it from coming back

Most kitchen clogs start with grease. It goes down the drain hot and liquid, then cools and sets on the pipe walls, narrowing the line a little more with every wash-up. Pour it into a can instead, and scrape plates before rinsing.

In bathrooms, a hair catcher on the tub and shower drains stops the most common blockage before it starts. And the toilet takes toilet paper - wipes marked "flushable" do not break down in the line, and they are a common cause of main-line blockages.

  • Grease in a can, never down the sink
  • Hair catchers on tub and shower drains
  • Wipes in the bin - even the flushable kind
  • Run hot water for thirty seconds after greasy dishes

Why store-bought drain cleaners make it worse

Chemical drain cleaners rarely clear a real blockage. The caustic liquid sits on top of the clog, eating at the pipe instead - a particular problem in older London homes with cast iron or galvanized drains. And a line full of caustic chemicals is hazardous to open up, which makes the eventual proper repair slower and more expensive.

If a plunger has not moved it, stop pouring and call (519) 777-5741. You get a straight answer the same business day and a flat-rate price before any work starts.

When cleaning is not enough

A drain that keeps re-clogging after professional clearing is a symptom, not bad luck. Grease coating the pipe walls, roots at a joint, or a sag in the line will bring the clog back no matter how many times it is snaked. That is when we recommend hydro jetting to strip the buildup, or a camera inspection to find the structural cause - so you fix it once.

Main line

Main sewer line blockages

When every drain backs up at once, the blockage is in the main line. Cleared from the cleanout and camera-checked - and if the pipe itself has failed, you see the footage before any repair is quoted.

Root intrusion

Roots in the line

Tree roots find pipe joints and grow into a mass that stops everything. Cut out and cleared, then camera-checked so you know whether the pipe itself is damaged.

Aging pipe

Old basement stacks

Cast iron and clay lines in older London homes scale up and narrow. Cleared, inspected, and honestly assessed for whether cleaning is enough.

Prevention

Basement drain protection

Where a home keeps taking on backups, a protection valve on the basement drain is a permanent fix rather than another clearing.

Common questions about drain cleaning

Straight answers before you call.

  • Most drain jobs are handled the same business day you call. Reach out and you get an answer the same day on what it likely is and when Steve can be there. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5pm.
  • You get a flat-rate price before any work begins, based on the drain and the blockage. The number you approve is the number you pay - no hourly meter running while you watch.
  • A repeat clog usually means the blockage was never the real problem - grease on the walls, roots at a joint, a sag in the pipe, or scale narrowing the line. That is why recurring clogs get a camera, so the cause is dealt with instead of the symptom.
  • Chemical cleaners rarely clear a real blockage and they sit in the pipe corroding it while they wait. They also make the line hazardous to open up. If a plunger has not done it, call instead.
  • Yes. Every job carries a warranty on parts and labour. If something is not right after Steve leaves, he comes back and makes it right.
